A local mother has founded a nonprofit organization to support young adults with disabilities in Laredo. The organization, called Together Laredo, aims to help these individuals build more independent lives. It offers various programs, including cooking classes and life skills workshops, all free of charge.

The founder, Karen Alvarez, was motivated by her personal experience raising her son Emilio, who has hydrocephalus and cerebral palsy. Alvarez has been recognized for her efforts as a KGNS+ Honors recipient. Further details about Together Laredo and its programs are available from KGNS.

The organization's recognition is seen as an opportunity to raise awareness and support for its cause, potentially helping more people in the community.
