S. Highway 83 in Zapata County on Saturday, July 18. A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near North Siesta Lane and later died at Laredo Medical Center.

The incident happened when three people attempted to cross the highway. The area where the accident occurred has little to no lighting, which may have contributed to the incident. An investigation is ongoing, and officials have not released additional details.
